Conceived as a focal point for the city's 2008 European Capital of Culture celebrations, the WilkinsonEyre-designed civic buildings at Liverpool's Kings Waterfront form a major new event space for the city. A 10,000 seat flexible arena space & conference centre (auditorium and exhibition space) are supported by a major new public piazza, a multi-storey car park and 96 residential units alongside. The brief demanded architecture of the highest quality, in the context of the Albert Dock and historic Mersey riverfront.
