The U.S. Embassy in Lima, Arquitectonica’s first federal project, challenged the firm to achieve artistic expression within the constraints of strict security design guidelines. This project demonstrated cultural sensitivity and the successful blending together images of the United States’ advanced technology with the traditional patterns and materials the host country. The idea of the exterior facade is a monumental mural, which communicates through an abstract composition the spirit of the indigenous culture.
