Reconciling high-quality design and excellent patient experience with budgetary constraints is a challenge faced by many healthcare organizations. At the UC Davis Ambulatory Care Center, NBBJ and UCDH worked together to create an innovative solution for on-campus ambulatory care that consolidates services and represents responsible stewardship of funds, without compromising design, teaching mission or patient experience. The resulting 12-year plan consolidates three buildings into one, saving approximately $150M in construction and occupancy costs and improving room utilization by 25 percent.
