A Day at the MoMA in the Year 2004 Two museumgoers are conversing about their impressions and experiences. A fictional true story by Herzog & de Meuron. The Entrance on 54th Street Did you come into the museum from 53rd or 54th Street this morning? I automatically used the 54th Street entrance, probably because it was the same one we used last night to watch a movie in the Edward G. Robinson cycle that’s running in Titus 1. That way you can go directly down to the Titus Theaters on a curved, free-standing staircase. It’s a separate entrance very practical and it also gives you a feeling of that special atmosphere that used to characterize movie house architecture. But if you came in on 53rd, you probably saw the Titus lobby, where photographs and posters from the collection are on display. You would have seen it from above, through the “eye” you know, the round opening in the Goodwin and Stone Lobby. ……and the 53rd Street Entrance I did come in on 53rd, instinctively I suppose, because I’ve always walked into the museum that way, for instance, when I went to those famous exhibitions on Picasso, Matisse and Twombly.
