´The Tide´, Shenzhen Maritime Museum, is envisioned as the flawless harmony between the city of Shenzhen and the nature that surrounds it. The Maritime Museum is the representation of a natural element that blends into a building and reflects the beauty of the sea in all its features. It rises from the water in a gentle undulating gesture that accommodates a man-made ocean of knowledge where the visitors will be able to explore all aspects of maritime life. Sharp edges meet in an organic floating movement where they resemble the sea. This concept explores the relationship between the ocean and humanity, while intentionally blurring the boundaries between Shenzhen and its nature. We imagine that our fresh vision can help shape and inspire Longqi bay while enriching the landscape and its inhabitants for years to come. The Maritime Museum emerges and connects the water to the inland through a soft movement where the visitors are invited to enter the building or walk on its roof. In a symbiotic process between the built environment and nature, the museum borrows its concept from the wave movements, blurring the boundary between architecture and environment in a continuous exchange.
